Families,

Thank you to those of you that were able to join us on Monday for our annual Veterans Day assembly. This is one of my most favorite assemblies that we do here at Ridgetop. What I love is that we have so many different staff and students that are a part of putting this assembly together. A big thank you to Mrs. Payfer, Mr. Lee, Mrs. Warnock, Mr. Cleverdon, Ms. Castilleja, Ms. Zumek, and our A4L students for all their work to make this assembly possible.

Besides our assembly, it has been a busy 4 day week. Our winter sports teams are in full swing, 6th graders got a new Unified Arts class, and we are working hard progressing through the semester.

I hope you all have a good weekend.

Raider Staff Spotlight 🔦

Each week we will feature two staff members at Ridgetop so that families get to know OUR Raider family better.
Raider Staff Spotlight: Emily Day, ILS Paraeducator, holding a bouquet of flowers.

Staff Spotlight (Ms. Day)

What is your role at Ridgetop?
- ILS (Intensive Learning Serves) Paraeducator

What is your favorite meal to cook and why?
- It's not really a meal but I like to make croissant sourdough bread loaves because I love the process of creating sourdough loaves and the croissant loaves are the BEST.

If you could pick up a new skill in an instant what would it be and why?
- If I could pick up a new skill in an instant I would want to do a backflip because it would be cool.

What was your favorite class in middle school?
- Earth Science

Tell us how you either LEARN, LEAD, or GROW in your life, in your personal life or as an educator.
- I learn in my personal/professional life because I am currently in school to earn my teaching degree in secondary education with a focus in biological science.
Raider Staff Spotlight featuring Mrs. Gabriela Earl with her dog in a forest setting.

Staff Spotlight (Mrs. Earl)

What is your role at Ridgetop?
- ELA Teacher (6th, 7th, & 8th Grade)

What is your favorite meal to cook and why?
- I love to cook complicated pasta dishes because I love a challenge!

If you could pick up a new skill in an instant what would it be and why?
- I would LOVE to instantly know how to play any instrument. I think it is an invaluable skill!

What was your favorite class in middle school?
- My favorite class in middle school was ELA. I had an extremely passionate and caring teacher who taught me a love for reading and believed in me. She is why I am an English teacher today :)

Tell us how you either LEARN, LEAD, or GROW in your life, in your personal life or as an educator.
- Both in my personal life and as an educator, I am always striving to learn, lead, and grow through reflective practice. As I always tell my students, every day is a new opportunity to make the world a better place, and I do this by pausing and reflecting on the work I've done and deciding how I can I do it better next time. Reflection is key to learning and growing to become a stronger leader.

We handed this Resources document out during conferences, but in case you didn't get it or need it again. Below are links to our district community resource page, along with different languages as well.

November Focus

This year, every month we are going to have a specific character focus that we are working on as a school. For the month of September, we are focusing on Professional Student. Each week, we will be focusing on different aspects of being a professional student.

For the month of November, we are focusing on gratitude. We are working on appreciating others and showing kindness.

After School Homework Help 📚

Just a couple of reminders for students that are planning to attend this:

  • Please try to pick up your student no earlier than 3:45
  • Students should stay in the library the whole time to work on homework and get support.

Thank you! We are glad so many students are starting to utilize this resource.

Would you like to be an Adult Mentor for our students? 🙋🏼‍♂️

Ridgetop is in need of adult mentors. All it takes is 1 hour per week to make a difference in a student's life. The goal of the mentoring program is to develop positive relationships between schools and students, parents, and community.  All mentors receive training on how to support students with goal setting, and peer relationships.

Mentoring takes place on school property. Mentors may play board games, draw, practice flashcards, read, discuss grades and study habits, or just spend time talking. If this sounds like something you can do, please get in contact with our building coordinator Jeff Kahler@ jeffreyk@ckschools.org. Adult mentors make a huge difference in a youth's life.
