|
What is your role at Ridgetop?
- I work as a paraeducator in the general education setting.
If you had to eat the same thing for lunch for the rest of your life, what would it be?
- Carnitas, tortillas, rice, and beans
If you could have another career, what would it be and why?
- I love looking at real estate and studying the real estate market. I think it would be fun to be a realtor and help people find their new homes!
What is the best advice you've ever received?
- "If it takes less than a minute, do it now." I once saw this as a bit of home tidying advice, but it's become a favorite mantra of mine because it can apply to anything in life. It's really tempting to put little things off until later, but doing it now and getting it out of the way can make a big difference down the road. Little things add up to big things.
Tell us how you either LEARN, LEAD, or GROW in your life, in your personal life or as an educator.
- Over the past three and a half years, I have worked as a paraeducator, an experience that has allowed me to LEARN from an incredible range of teachers across diverse classes and settings. During this time, I have also been pursuing my master’s degree in education to prepare for my upcoming transition into a teaching role. I am excited to apply the knowledge, skills, and insights I’ve gained from these outstanding educators as I GROW into leading my own classroom next school year.

What is your role at Ridgetop?
- 6th grade counselor!
If you had to eat the same thing for lunch for the rest of your life, what would it be?
- Chicken pad thai, sushi, or peanut butter toast :)
If you could have another career, what would it be and why?
- If I could choose another career, I would be a professional athlete. I have a passion for sports, especially playing basketball, soccer, and golf. I love pushing myself physically and mentally through activities like distance running and boxing. Challenging myself through these sports and workouts keeps me motivated and energized!
What is the best advice you've ever received?
- The best advice I received came from my dad. He always told me to work hard and give 110% in everything I do. He also reminded me to treat others the way I want to be treated.
Tell us how you either LEARN, LEAD, or GROW in your life, in your personal life or as an educator.
- As an educator, it is important for me to continuously learn best practices and explore new ways to help students grow and achieve their goals. As a new counselor, I grow each day by working closely with the counseling staff, administration, teachers, students, and families here at Ridgetop. Working well in a team is vital to support learning, growth, and success both personally and professionally!
Additionally, my 2 boys challenge me to lead by example, and encourage me to grow and stretch my capacity to be the best mom that I can be.

Thank you again for those that were able to join us for conferences this week. We would love it if you could complete a quick 3 question survey about conferences. This will provide us with valuable feedback as we shift gears and prepare for Spring Conferences. Here is the link to the survey. Thank you!

This year, every month we are going to have a specific character focus that we are working on as a school. For the month of September, we are focusing on Professional Student. Each week, we will be focusing on different aspects of being a professional student.
For the month of October, it is all about Responsibility. We are asking students to focus on being responsible for themselves, their academics, and for their school.

This is a great opportunity through Olympic College for those interested in STEM activities or just want a fun event to go to in October. RSVP not required, but appreciated so they can plan for enough supplies and candy.

Ridgetop is in need of adult mentors. All it takes is 1 hour per week to make a difference in a student's life. The goal of the mentoring program is to develop positive relationships between schools and students, parents, and community. All mentors receive training on how to support students with goal setting, and peer relationships.
Mentoring takes place on school property. Mentors may play board games, draw, practice flashcards, read, discuss grades and study habits, or just spend time talking. If this sounds like something you can do, please get in contact with our building coordinator Jeff Kahler@ jeffreyk@ckschools.org. Adult mentors make a huge difference in a youth's life.
