Families,

The first all school dance is one of my favorite dances of the year! For me, it signifies that school is really in full swing. I love seeing how many students attend this dance, the smiles, the anticipation, and all the middle school "goofiness" that goes with it! I love it! If your student came to the dance, I hope they enjoyed it and had a good time. If your student didn't make it, we can't wait for them to join us at our next dance in the winter! Also, thank you for being awesome parents when it came to pick up. My hope is that it went okay!

On a side note, our 6th graders got to listen to our annual Harassment, Intimidation, and Bullying presentation that I get the honor of doing. This is a topic that we don't take lightly and it is near and dear to my heart. Respect and kindness are an integral part of helping ensure that Ridgetop is a safe place for our staff and students. I firmly believe this and we will continue to always keep the "family" atmosphere at the forefront of what we do here.

Well, we are about to close the door on September and welcome in October. It's hard to believe that we have been school for almost a month. Looking forward to a great month ahead. Have a great weekend.

September Focus 👨‍🎓

This year, every month we are going to have a specific character focus that we are working on as a school. For the month of September, we are focusing on Professional Student. Each week, we will be focusing on different aspects of being a professional student.

This week our focus is going to be on managing time.

8th Grade Field Trip

We have an amazing opportunity to take our 8th graders to watch the Frankenstein performance put on by our CK Performing Arts Center on Oct. 20th. Permission slips will be passed out to students next week. Please make sure to sign it and have your student turn it in to the office or ELA teacher.

Therapy Dog Opportunity 🐶

Ridgetop in partnership with the CKSD Therapy Dog Program will be utilizing a therapy dog in our school. They will be at lunches once a week and will do some class visits as well. If you would like your student to NOT participate in this program, please fill out the opt out form below. Thank you.

Drop Off and Pick up 🚗

As we enter a new school year, one of the things that I really want to stress is our drop off and pick up process.

Please ensure that if you are dropping off and/or picking up your student that you go into our parking lot area to do this. There will be two lanes of traffic as you drive through. Please remind your student to use the cross walk as they are crossing the bus lane to get in and out of school. If you are wanting to park and wait for your student, you can do so on the side parking lot. Please make sure to park in a stall and not along the road.

Please do not drop off students on Hillsboro Dr as that interrupts the flow of traffic for those that are driving through and can be very unsafe. Also, please do not drop students off in the bus lane area as busses come in and out of that area.

Planning to move or transfer schools?

Just a friendly reminder: Please give us at least 3 days’ notice before your child’s last day so we can begin the withdrawal process. Thank you!

Japan EFT Summer Trip ✈️

Mr. Booth will be taking a group of students to Japan in the summer of 2026 for an awesome educational trip. Please see this link for more info. There is a parent interest meeting coming up for this too. This is such a great opportunity for our students!

**This is NOT a CKSD sponsored trip

Athletic Pick Up 🥎

**Once the staging area gets full, please find a parking spot and not keep the staging line going as this backs traffic up on Hillsboro Dr.

We are so excited to see so many students participating in fall sports. Right now we have over 200 students in a fall sport and that is awesome to see so many of them engaging in a sport at Ridgetop.

With that being said, with so many students participating in sports, we want to recognize that pick up after practice can be hard and difficult. Our parking layout is not conducive to having so many people here during a specific time. So, to help with that, we would like to try out something a little different for athletic pick up.

As you will see from this map, we have 3 different areas where you can park and wait for your student. You can park in the main parking area in front of the school, on the side parking lot, and if need be at Silver Ridge Elementary next door.

We will also offer a staging area, which will be along the sidewalk (right lane) in front of our building. This is marked in green on the attached map. Please keep in mind that if you are choosing to be in the staging area that you leave the left lane open so that cars that have their student can pull into the left lane and exit the school. The staging area will start right after the turn into the side parking lot and will end right before the exit of the main parking lot area. This will ensure that cars do not block other cars that are wanting to go into the side parking lot or cars exiting the main parking area. We will not have a staging area in the main parking lot.

We definitely recognize that this may not be perfect, and we are willing to adjust as need be. We ask that families are patient and respectful to each other as we try to make this process better for all. Thank you and we are excited to watch all of our Raiders in action this fall!

Would you like to be an Adult Mentor for our students? 🙋🏼‍♂️

Ridgetop is in need of adult mentors. All it takes is 1 hour per week to make a difference in a student's life. The goal of the mentoring program is to develop positive relationships between schools and students, parents, and community.  All mentors receive training on how to support students with goal setting, and peer relationships.

Mentoring takes place on school property. Mentors may play board games, draw, practice flashcards, read, discuss grades and study habits, or just spend time talking. If this sounds like something you can do, please get in contact with our building coordinator Jeff Kahler@ jeffreyk@ckschools.org. Adult mentors make a huge difference in a youth's life.
